Cape Fear Show With Javier Bardem Unveils Apple TV Release Date & Photos

Apple TV has confirmed a summer release for its upcoming thriller series led by Javier Bardem. The platform revealed the premiere date and shared new promotional images, offering an early look at what’s to come.

Cape Fear TV show gets June release date on Apple TV

Apple TV will premiere its psychological thriller series Cape Fear worldwide on June 5, 2026.

The streamer will release the first two episodes on that date, then roll out new episodes every Friday through July 31. Apple TV announced the release during its press event at the Santa Monica Barker Hangar, where creator and showrunner Nick Antosca discussed the series alongside lead actors Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson.

The 10-episode show casts Amy Adams as Anna Bowden and Patrick Wilson as Tom Bowden, a married couple who work as attorneys. Their lives take a dark turn when Max Cady, a dangerous criminal they helped convict, leaves prison and pursues revenge. Javier Bardem takes on the role of Max Cady. The supporting cast features CCH Pounder, Jamie Hector, Anna Baryshnikov, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, and Malia Pyles.

The series adapts the novel The Executioners by John D. MacDonald, which led to two earlier film versions: a 1962 release and a 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese. The new adaptation draws primarily from the 1991 film and explores psychological tension and America’s fixation on true crime in the 21st century.

UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television produce Cape Fear. Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund of Eat The Cat, along with Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Darryl Frank, and Justin Falvey from Amblin, lead the executive production team.

Amy Adams, Javier Bardem, and Morten Tyldum also contribute as executive producers. Tyldum directed the pilot. Antosca created the series under his overall deal with UCP, where he has worked since 2017.
