This 1974 BMW 2002 was fitted with a replacement 2.0-liter M10 inline-four and partially recommissioned prior to its acquisition by the seller on BaT in September 2025. Subsequent service is said to have included installing a replacement timing chain and tensioner, a 121 cylinder head, and European-market 2002 Tii-specification Mahle pistons as well as a 90-amp internally regulated alternator, a Pertronix ignition system, and a 38/38-style downdraft carburetor. A 2002 Tii-specification flywheel and a Sachs clutch kit were added, and the car also has a replacement four-speed manual gearbox, a 3.90:1 limited-slip differential, and a close-ratio “177” steering box. Finished in Atlantic Blue over tan Skai vinyl, the car also features a driver-side mirror, pop-out rear windows, replacement fog lights, power-assisted front disc brakes, 13″ steel wheels, and a heater. This BMW 2002 is offered at no reserve with a factory jack and handle as well as parts receipts and an Arkansas title in the seller’s name.

The car is finished in Atlantic Blue (041) and features a driver-side mirror, pop-out rear windows, and US-specification bumpers and side markers. The seller tells us that the floor panels were repaired under previous ownership, while work under current ownership involved repairing the lights and installing replacement fog lights. The turn signals work intermittently, and the seller notes the hazard switch may require replacement. Blemishes are noted on various exterior surfaces, and corrosion is noted on the rear panel and rocker panels.
This is a relist after the vehicle was previously sold on BaT in January 2026 and the winning bidder failed to follow through with their commitment to purchase. This was not due to any fault with the vehicle. The winner’s participation on BaT has been restricted and their buyer’s fee was not refunded.

Steel 13″ wheels received 175/70 Kenda tires circa October 2025. Stopping is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. The seller notes that a close-ratio “177” steering box was installed and filled with a Red Line Oils lubricant under current ownership.

The seating surfaces are upholstered in tan Skai vinyl. The seller notes that the heater was repaired under current ownership, at which time the car received a replacement shifter boot and bushings. The headliner is torn and the dashboard is cracked. An uninstalled non-AC center console is included in the sale.

The three-spoke steering wheel frames VDO instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The horn, hazard lights, and speedometer are inoperative. The five-digit odometer shows 59k miles and is inaccurate according to the seller, who estimates having driven the car 1k miles under their ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 2.0-liter M10 inline-four is equipped with a reproduction 38/38-style electric-choke downdraft carburetor and European-market 2002 Tii-specification Mahle “raised bathtub” pistons, and the engine was fitted with a replacement timing chain, timing chain tensioner, oil pump chain, 121 cylinder head, head gasket, and head bolts under current ownership. The seller tells us that additional work circa October 2025 involved fitting a 90-amp internally regulated alternator, a Pertronix ignition system, and a replacement rear main seal, flange gasket, timing cover, valve cover gaskets, and spark plugs.

A 2002 Tii-specification 228mm flywheel and a corresponding Sachs clutch kit were installed under current ownership along with a replacement four-speed manual gearbox with a replacement shift seal and an aftermarket transmission mount as well as a replacement driveshaft assembly. The car is equipped with a 3.90:1 limited-slip rear differential, and the seller tells us that both the transmission and differential have been filled with Red Line Oil lubricants. Corrosion is noted on various underbody components, close-up photos of which are provided in the gallery below.
The Arkansas title lists “OD EXEMPT” under the Remarks heading.
