This 1974 Alfa Romeo GTV 2000 was purchased new by the seller’s father from Alfredo’s Foreign Cars of Larchmont, New York. Following approximately ten years off the road, it underwent roughly $15k of reconditioning work in 2020 at the Motorsport Garage in Allston, Massachusetts, including an overhaul of the 1,962cc twin-cam inline-four as well as replacement of the clutch assembly, fuel tank, rear brakes, and more as detailed below. The car is finished in Biancospino over Nero vinyl and rides on 14″ steel wheels coupled with power-assisted disc brakes at all four corners. A wood-rimmed Personal steering wheel frames Jaeger instrumentation inside, while shifting is through a five-speed manual transmission linked with a limited-slip differential. This GTV is now offered by the seller on behalf of their father with an Alfa Romeo Classiche Certificato di Origine, dealer correspondence, sales documentation, service records, workshop manuals, and a clean Massachusetts title in their name.

Correspondence with Alfredo’s Foreign Cars indicates that the seller’s father wished to obtain a 1975 GTV in metallic silver and eventually purchased a 1974 model year example in Biancospino. Pre-delivery correspondence, sales documentation, and a Massachusetts title issued in 1975 are included in the sale along with service records from new.

The car wears wears yellow-lens fog lights, biscione C-pillar badging, and ANSA exhaust finishers as well as wrap-around bumpers with overriders. The windshield was replaced in 1979, and work performed as part of the 2020 overhaul included replacing the right window regulator and right-rear wheel arch liner. Cracked, bubbling, and peeling paint can be seen around the car along with rust and evidence of previous repairs. Paint meter readings are presented in the gallery.

The 14″ steel wheels feature red-painted accents and are mounted with 185/70 Michelin Defender tires, while braking is handled by power-assisted discs at all four corners. The rear brake compensator, calipers, pads, rotors, and lines were replaced as part of the 2020 reconditioning work. Additional work at that time involved lubricating the steering shaft as well as changing the right tie-rod, rear wheel bearings, and the parking brake cable and shoes. A November 2024 service record notes the left tie rod ends need to be replaced and the front sway bar mounts at the body have rusted.

The cabin houses front bucket seats and a contoured rear bench trimmed in Nero vinyl accompanied by woodgrain trim on the dash and center console. Further details include a heater and a lockable glovebox along with quarter-vent windows and pop-out pivoting rear side glass. The boots for the shifter and parking brake lever were replaced in 2020. The Blaupunkt radio does not work, rust is visible in the trunk floor, and the spare wheel well is rusted through.

The wood-rimmed Personal steering wheel frames Jaeger instrumentation including a tachometer with an inset oil pressure gauge accompanied by a 140-mph speedometer and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer is believed to have rolled over once and now shows 15k miles. The seller tells us that the tachometer is not accurate.

The 1,962cc twin-cam inline-four was specified with SPICA mechanical fuel injection from the factory and rated at 128 horsepower when new. Work performed as part of the 2020 recommissioning project involved draining the fuel tank, adjusting the fuel mixture, and replacing the following parts and components:
- Various seals and gaskets
- Injection pump belt
- Water pump and belt
- Radiator and shroud
- Coolant reservoir
- Intake hoses
- Fuel tank, lines, and filters
- Distributor cap
- Thermo acuator
- Battery
The valve cover gasket and seals were replaced in November 2024 along with the spark plugs. The seller reports that the hand throttle does not work and notes an oil leak.

Engine number 09736 is shown above and is listed on an included Certificato di Origine from Alfa Romeo Classiche, which also notes a production date of May 15, 1974, as well as initial delivery to Englewood Cliffs in New Jersey.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The clutch assembly and cylinders were replaced as part of the aforementioned 2020 reconditioning work along with the flywheel pins, differential flex line, transmission mount, and transmission pan seal. There is a leak in the exhaust system.
