The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Chief Benjamin Omale, has commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for what he described as transformative infrastructure development across the state, urging Benue residents to sustain their confidence in the governor’s administration.
Chief Omale made the remarks following the flag-off of the reconstruction and dualization of over 55 kilometres of major roads in Gboko Local Government Area (LGA), of the state by the Governor.
He said the project further justified the growing popularity of the governor’s nickname, “The Talk and Do Governor,” particularly among youths in the state.
Governor Alia, while flagging off the project, expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support, noting that collaboration with the federal government helped the state steadily position itself as a hub of modern development.
According to the APC chairman, Governor Alia’s performance in less than three years in office has redefined governance in Benue State.
“The performance of Governor Hyacinth Alia in nearly three years is transformational. He is doing what Benue has never seen before, and this is why people now call him ‘The Talk and Do Governor,” Omale said.
He noted that the scale of projects executed by the administration has earned recognition even beyond the state, citing comments attributed to Vice President Kashim Shettima, who described Alia as “the transformational governor of Benue State.”
“Even people from outside Benue can see the difference. The Vice President himself acknowledged the magnitude of projects executed under this administration,” Omale added.
He stressed that “the 55-kilometre road project in Gboko is part of the governor’s broader agenda to open up the state through quality infrastructure, improve mobility, stimulate economic activities, and create employment opportunities. The project is expected to ease movement within Gboko and surrounding communities, boost commerce, and significantly improve the daily lives of residents.”
Chief Omale also praised the governor’s bottom-up approach to governance and his continued engagement with local communities.
“The governor remains grateful to the people of Gboko for their warmth, support, and confidence in his administration. He has given clear directives to contractors to work with speed, professionalism, and the highest standards to ensure these roads are completed and commissioned within five months,” Omale said.
Describing the governor’s performance as history-making, the APC chairman called on Benue residents across political divides to support good governance and development-oriented leadership.
He highlighted several legacy projects of the Alia administration, including the construction of Benue State’s first underpasses in Makurdi and Gboko, the first-ever one-storey classroom buildings across the 23 LGA, the establishment of the state’s first oncology centre at the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, and a VIP clinic aimed at reducing medical tourism abroad.
Omale also cited the construction of over 35 township roads across major towns and the state-funded ecological intervention at the Idyer Basin canal, which he said has ended decades of flooding disasters for residents living along the corridor.
“These are legacy projects that speak for themselves. This administration is setting new standards and laying a solid foundation for the future of Benue State,” he noted.
