Suhar – The 4th edition of the Suhar Festival officially commenced on Monday evening in the North Batinah Governorate, under the patronage of Sheikh Sebaa Hamdan al Saadi, Secretary-General of the Secretariat General of National Celebrations. The opening ceremony featured eight elaborate artistic performances that showcased the historical and civilisational significance of Suhar as a prominent Omani hub throughout the ages. These displays blended theatrical drama with traditional operettas and visual effects, chronicling Oman’s maritime legacy and its historical contributions to trade and knowledge.

Mohammed al Kindi, Governor of North Batinah, highlighted the festival’s role in stimulating local cultural and tourism activity. He noted that the event serves as a platform to support small and medium enterprises and productive families, contributing to regional economic development.

The festival, which runs until January 31, 2026, includes an operetta titled “Ibn Ruzaiq,” featuring renowned Omani artists and historical figures. Visitors can expect a diverse programme ranging from equestrian and maritime shows to educational activities for children and sports events designed to provide a comprehensive cultural experience.
