Emmerdale fans were completely stunned when it was revealed that Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) was still alive in a huge Corriedale twist, and now we’ve spotted a clue that could explain everything.

Viewers spent most of the special crossover episode questioning who the mysterious hooded figure that had an equally mysterious woman tied up in the back of his van was.

We got our first hint when he was spotted hovering over an unconscious Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), and our questions were finally answered when we got a glimpse of his face in the hospital.

His appearance came as a huge shock, given that Graham had been killed off six years ago.

In tonight’s episode, another returning character hit our screens, and she could be the key to explaining how Graham is still alive.

Viewers will recall that Graham was supposedly murdered by Pierce Harris in 2020, and the detective in charge of the investigation was DI Dent (Linda Armstrong).

Though she disappeared from our screens once the case was closed, she made a sudden reappearance in tonight’s instalment – and it can’t be a coincidence.

The detective was clearly off-duty, but was sat in her car watching Joe from a distance. She then picked up the phone and declared that things were ‘sorted’ and Joe had been told ‘exactly what he needed to hear’.

During Graham’s return, we also saw him making a mystery phone call, declaring to the person on the other end of the line that he was ‘terminating their contract’.

Could Graham and DI Dent have been in cahoots this whole time?

It isn’t just the bizarre timing of both returns and their penchant for secret phone calls that have got us linking them, but another, far more telling clue.

As DI Dent made her phone call, we spotted a significant tattoo barely concealed by the sleeve of her t-shirt. (Seriously, who sits in a car with the window open wearing just a t-shirt in January?)

The tattoo contained the words ‘Who dares wins’, which is the famous slogan of the SAS, suggesting that DI Dent was once in the force.

But why is that relevant? Because Graham was also in the SAS prior to his arrival in the Emmerdale village.

Could Graham and Dent have been in the force together and stayed in touch? And could the detective have helped Graham fake his own murder?
