Woman charged over alleged stabbing in Newcastle

A woman is set to face court today with domestic violence offences after a man was allegedly stabbed at a Newcastle hotel yesterday morning.

Emergency services were called to a hotel on Young Street in Carrington at about 10.50am following reports of an alleged stabbing.

When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old suffering stab wounds.

He was allegedly assaulted and stabbed by a woman police say was known to him.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The 22-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station.

She was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (DV), stalking and intimidating, intending fear and physical harm, and common assault.

She was refused bail and will appear in court today.
