When E.V.K. Sampath hit the headlines in Tamil Nadu

Sampath, nephew of E.V. Ramasamy, enjoyed a special relationship with DMK founder C.N. Annadurai. Before other DMK leaders, he realised the futility of pursuing the demand for a Dravida Nadu. He quit the DMK in 1961 and founded a party, which he merged with the Congress. Sampath’s birth centenary falls on March 6, 2026.
