We’re living through uncertain times. War, natural disasters and rollercoaster politics are all contributing to an anxiety-inducing sense of chaos.
If only there was somebody with a proven record of taking the mystery out of the future, who could make an unsettling world feel a bit more… settled.
Step forward Craig Hamilton-Parker – aka the ‘new Nostradamus’ – who has served as Metro‘s resident new-year soothsayer for the past few years.
In a matter of days, we’ll let you know what he thinks we’ve got coming up in 2026 – but ahead of that, we thought we’d have a scan over his predictions for 2025.
Craig’s forecast the year before proved startlingly accurate. He correctly foresaw Rishi Sunak being ousted as PM and replaced as Tory leader by Kemi Badenoch; Labour’s election success in Scotland; and King Charles’ cancer diagnosis.
So how did he get on this year? First, let’s look at what Craig got right.
US brokering peace
One of Craig’s top predictions for last year was Donald Trump’s victory in the 2024 US Presidential election, despite many thinking the Democrats had it in the bag.
Confident in the knowledge he’d nailed that one, he began this year with a few ideas about what the newly re-elected leader would get up to.
Craig believed the US would try to broker a deal between Ukraine and Russia, as well as Israel and Palestine which could result in peace in the area.
An initial ceasefire in Gaza lasted from January until March, and another Trump-brokered one has been in effect since October – though according to the UN, hundreds of Palestinians have been killed since it began.
Craig also said relations between Israel and Iran would worsen, which they did. It even looked like full-scale war would break out until the US bombed Iranian nuclear sites in June.
As for Ukraine and Russia, a peace deal does seem closer than it did at the end of last year. Much of that has been down to Trump too, even if his actions on the topic have sometimes been alarming and confusing.
Trump-Musk fallout
Some predictions are more surprising than others. Perhaps it didn’t take a pro to foresee that Elon Musk’s ego-tastic bromance with Donald Trump wouldn’t last.
Indeed, it took less than six months for the relationship to blow up like a SpaceX rocket – and the result was no less spectacular.
Trump said his ex-pal ‘just went CRAZY!’ while Musk told his 220 million followers on X that the President ‘is in the Epstein files’. It didn’t take long to find out Musk was right… but he was in them too.

As a reminder, Craig told us at the start of the year he could see ‘Trump and Elon Musk’s relationship deteriorating fast’.
He also claimed the President would ensure ‘woke rules and laws’ are upturned along with ‘the removal of lots of illegal immigrants’. We can give him those, even if they’re not exactly shocking.
Andrew pushed out
While many people may have believed this time last year there was not much further for the King’s brother to fall, Craig appeared to know otherwise.
At the start of this year, he told us Prince Andrew would end up being alienated further from the rest of the Royal Family.
Indeed, he’s been alienated so far that he isn’t even Prince Andrew anymore.
He was stripped of all his royal titles, including prince and Duke of York, amid continuing fallout over his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Now, he’s plain old commoner Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Trouble around the world
Rounding things off, a couple of eye-catching claims about global events from Craig appeared to come true this year.
Number one: ‘I had a vision of fire, smoke and protests in Paris, so it isn’t looking good for France.’
Naturally, there were a few protests in Paris this year. Perhaps most notable was the April rally that followed Marine Le Pen’s conviction for embezzlement.
But that same month, we also got some stunning pictures of smoke over the City of Lights thanks to a fire at a waste disposal centre. Could this be what Craig saw?
He also prophesied an earthquake in Japan which would apparently cause a gas leak.
One did indeed strike off the north-east coast of the country on December 8, and there were reports of small fires from ruptured gas lines though they certainly weren’t the main issue.
What did Craig get wrong?
Before we get too carried away, it’s worth remembering Craig didn’t get everything spot on. He also predicted:
- Keir Starmer being ousted as PM, with Yvette Cooper stepping in as a caretaker
- Boris Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg joining Reform UK
- Harry and Meghan getting divorced
- Harry returning to the UK and being welcomed by King Charles
- Another assassination attempt on President Trump
- The death of Harvey Weinstein
But not all forecasts are 100% right. See what you think might come true from Craig’s 2026 visions when they’re published soon.
