Jalingo — Troops of the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim following an intensive search-and-rescue operation in Taraba State.
The victim, identified as Mr. Ghali, was abducted on January 11, 2026, at Gbise village in Benue State. During the incident, the driver conveying Mr. Ghali and another passenger was reportedly killed by the abductors.
In a statement, the Nigerian Army disclosed that Mr. Ghali has since been debriefed, provided with necessary medical care, and safely reunited with his family.
Commending the troops for the successful operation, the Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised their tenacity, courage, and professionalism.
He assured members of the public that military operations in the area would be intensified to secure the release of the remaining victim and ensure the arrest of those responsible for the crime.
