Muscat – With the participation of world-class champions, the Oman Automobile Association (OAA) is set to launch the first round of the Oman International Drift Championship (OIDC) 2026 as part of the Muscat Nights festivities, with Shell as the primary sponsor.
The opening round will be staged on Thursday and Friday, January 15 and 16, at the Muscat Drift Arena, drawing motorsport enthusiasts from across the Sultanate of Oman and beyond. The championship is widely regarded as one of the strongest drifting competitions in the world, owing to its high organisational standards and the intense level of competition it attracts.
The event will feature an elite field of international drivers vying for top honours, showcasing exceptional car control and technical precision in a thrilling spectacle marked by clouds of tyre smoke and the roar of high-performance engines. Qualifying rounds will be held on the first day, followed by the championship finals on the second day.
The OAA said comprehensive logistical and technical arrangements have been put in place to ensure the smooth running of the event, with spectator stands equipped to the highest standards to comfortably accommodate the large crowds that attend the championship each year.
The Oman International Drift Championship has grown into a flagship motorsport event, further reinforcing Oman’s rising stature as a regional and international destination for high-profile motorsport competitions.
