Timothee Chalamet has finally put to bed any speculation that he is Liverpool-based rapper EsDeeKid by collaborating with him.
EsDeeKid has been attracting attention over the past year after his breakout hit Bally gained popularity last summer.
He’s continued to grow, seeing some success in the UK, Europe and US, with his debut record Rebel peaking at number nine on the UK album chart.
However, the rapper — who has a thick Scouse accent and performs wearing a balaclava — has sparked rumours he is secretly Timothee, 29.
Earlier this month, the Marty Supreme star joked that he’s got ‘no comment’ on the rumours but teased ‘All will be revealed’.
He didn’t leave fans hanging for long, surprise dropping a remix of EsDeeKid’s track 4 Raws, complete with a music video.
Timothee appears in the video dressed like EsDeeKid before pulling off his mask and removing his hood, showing off his buzzcut.
In the rap, the Dune star throws out some insane bars like ‘Got model b***hes in Peckham/I’m Ryan Reynolds in Wrexham/I’m having fun just sexting.’
He also mentions his girl who has got ‘billions’, a not-so-subtle nod to his girlfriend Kylie Jenner, 28.
Lil Timmy Tim brags: ‘My life is an opera, look at the Oscars, look at the groupies, look at the movies.’
Highlighting his latest movie, he then repeats ‘Marty Supreme’, a character that Metro’s film reporter Tori Brazier called ‘one of the most offensive characters in cinema.’
Fans were going wild for the track, with studio A24 cryptically commenting ‘all is revealed’.
JoyBoy enthusiastically called it ‘the biggest collab of the century,’ adding that he was ‘shaking’ with excitement.
‘This is about to go triple platinum in my house,’ wrote Jasminetafoya with other commenters hyping Timothee’s bars.
Singer Shaboozey said the song was bound to go to number one with internet personality Brittany Broski joking this was simply ‘correct’.
Despite the pair appearing together in the video, not everyone was convinced that EsDeeKid and Timothee are not the same person.
‘You can’t tell me he’s not him, just having someone cover up so it looks like two people 😩😩😩,’ said sceptical TikToker Sofia Bella.
Why do people think EsDeeKid is Timothee Chalamet?
Fans of Timothee will be well aware he already has a rapping alter-ego called Lil Timmy Tim from his school days.
While at Laguardia High School in New York City, Timothee put on a whole performance under the rapper persona.
As for EsDeeKid, his history is a little unknown, seemingly appearing out of nowhere in 2023 in a feature on a DualSpines track.
His identity is top secret, with the Phantom rapper never showing his face in pictures or on stage — except his eyes, which bear a striking resemblance to Timothee’s.
Not only that, they seem to own a few remarkably similar pieces of clothing, such as a scarf that internet sleuths noticed in pictures.
Who is EsDeeKid?
EsDeeKid has made a huge splash in music since his debut, skyrocketing up the charts despite being a … complete unknown.
His song Phantom now has over 90million streams and he has over 11million monthly listeners. No doubt aided by the speculation.
This popularity allowed him to embark on a tour, backed by early collaborator Rico Ace, with shows in Paris, Madrid, Manchester, and London.
His tour happened to coincide with when Timothee was relatively free — except for one show.
On October 9, the 5am rapper was in Milan for his concert, taking to the stage in his usual all black, face-disguising attire.
Where was Timothee at this time? Only 4,000 miles away in New York for a screening of Marty Surpreme.
That’s a seven to nine hour direct flight, so unless Timothee is also able to hop on a fighter jet for his concert, there’s no way he could have been there.
But then again, maybe a stand-in for one show – and one music video — would be an effective way to dispel any rumours.
