If you’re looking for a new flick to brighten up your Christmas beyond rewatching The Holiday and TV reruns of 80s comedies, this might do the trick.
Starring boy band royalty, the Jonas Brothers, A Very Jonas Christmas Movie has all the ingredients of a feel-good festive film: comedy, Santa Claus, and the tried and tested ‘will they or won’t they make it home in time?’ dilemma.
Oh, and it stars Buddy the Elf himself, Will Ferrell. Except he just plays… Will Ferrell.
Along with, of course, Jo Bros Kevin, 38, Joe, 36, and Nick, 33, Chloe Bennet, Billie Lourd, Laverne Cox, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson also make appearances.
And if all of that doesn’t sound exciting enough, the 2025 Christmas film is now streaming on Disney+.
The plot of A Very Jonas Christmas Movie sees the three brothers, who rose to fame on Disney Channel in the 2000s, complete their European tour in London, longing to return home to their families for the holiday season.
However, tensions arise in the group when each member has different expectations about their role in the musical trio.
As a result, Santa – clearly a massive fan, since he doesn’t want them to break up – bestows a curse upon them, unbeknownst to the siblings.
Kevin, Joe, and Nick must then sort out their issues before they are able to return to their loved ones.
Naturally, there’s plenty of chaos along the way as the brothers attempt various transport methods for their journey back to the States, all of which fail miserably due to Santa’s wicked ways.
What’s more, one member happens to bump into an old friend, causing romantic feelings to stir.
But will the Jonas brothers be able to patch things up?
The film has certainly proven itself to be a hit since its release in November, with an 85% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, while audiences rate it at 71%.
Among critics’ reviews, Adam Graham of Detroit News declares it a ‘festive treat’ in itself, how the band folds several songs into the movie’s 80-minute runtime.
‘A Very Jonas Christmas Movie will be a lot more than a festive, fun time for long-time Jonas Brothers fans,’ writes Shelby Elpers of Fangirlish.
‘This goofy movie is better than it has any right to be; it’s a holiday blast of nostalgic musical chaos,’ adds Polly Conway of Common Sense Media.
As for audience reviews, @sunflowrgrrl praises alongside a five-star rating: ‘So much fun! A lot better than I expected. Worth a watch if you like Christmas movies.’
‘This movie surprised me. It was cute, funny and I loved how the bros incorporated, what appears to be, their real-life personas into the movie all while making fun of/having fun with that,’ adds @BamBam.

The Jonas Brothers actually decided to make their own Christmas movie as a gift for their children, given how it reflects on the stage they’ve reached in both their careers and personal lives.
Speaking to Extra, Nick explained that it felt like the right moment for them to take on a holiday project.
‘We’re at a moment in our life and career where, you know, we’re now 20 years into our career, and we still think there’s a long runway ahead,’ he said. ‘But doing things like a Christmas movie or when we make our albums or write our songs, we’re thinking about that long-term journey now, and our kids not only watching it, but being proud of it and sharing it with their friends.’
He continued: ‘Christmas movies live on in perpetuity forever, and that was something we were really excited about.’
Nick shares daughter Malti with his wife Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Joe has daughters Willa and Delphine with ex-wife Sophie Turner, and Kevin is dad to daughters Alena and Valentina with wife Danielle Jonas. Nick and Kevin’s families appear in the film.
Elsewhere in the interview, Kevin reflected on the differences between working together on music and making a movie.
‘It starts way earlier than our usual nighttime starts on the tour,’ he told the outlet. ‘Working with these guys is incredible.’
He continued: ‘They’ve done a lot more acting than I did in the last, you know, 10, 15 years, and so just kind of leaning on them during the process really made it really easy. The whole process was great.’
The brothers have appeared on-screen together several times, including in the Camp Rock films and the Disney Channel series Jonas.
A Very Jonas Christmas is now streaming on Disney+.
