Suhar – The fourth edition of Suhar Festival will begin on Monday, reinforcing its role as a major platform for tourism promotion, economic activity and community engagement in North Batinah. The festival will run till January 31, 2026.
A member of the main organising committee said the event aims to highlight North Batinah’s tourism assets and consolidate its presence on Oman’s domestic tourism map. “The festival contributes directly to economic activity by supporting entrepreneurship, small and medium enterprises and artisanal families,” he said.
The official noted that this year’s edition places strong emphasis on innovation in entertainment – with programmes designed to appeal to families and young people – and safe and accessible recreational spaces. He added that this edition builds on the success of previous festivals, which saw increasing public engagement and participation.
The programme includes a range of interactive attractions, including artificial intelligence-powered experiences that transform visitors’ ideas into virtual scenarios, blending modern creativity with Omani identity. Carnival shows will include three performances each day, providing continuous entertainment throughout the festival period.
A photography competition, organised in cooperation with the International Federation
of Photographic Art, is expected to attract more than 200 photographers. Participants will document the natural landscapes and tourism potential of North Batinah. An integrated Omani village will also be a central feature, showcasing traditional crafts, customs and popular cuisine.
Other attractions include karting activities, a cultural quiz competition ‘Seen Jeem’ – aimed at encouraging knowledge-based participation across age groups – and a family-oriented kite-flying event. A dedicated children’s and family theatre will host educational and entertainment programmes, while the Suhar Rally will add a motorsports dimension to the festival.
“Suhar Festival has become a key seasonal event for residents and visitors,” the official said, adding that this edition represents a qualitative improvement in organisation and content.
