Row erupts in Kerala over stop memo on preparatory work for ‘Kumbh Mela’

Revenue authorities in Malappuram have issued a stop memo for preparatory work on the Bharatapuzha River for the Mahamagha Mahotsavam, citing violations of the Kerala River Protection Act. Organizers, however, claim they had obtained necessary permissions and intend to proceed with the event, alleging attempts to disrupt Hindu religious rites.
