Police officer hospitalised, two arrested following pursuit in Sydney's Inner West

A police officer has been taken to hospital and two men have been arrested following a chase in Sydney's Inner West overnight.

Police were called to a home on Crystal Street in Petersham at about 2am following reports of a home invasion.

When officers arrived on scene and began establishing a perimeter, a white van allegedly hit a male officer before driving away from the scene.

The officer was treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Police located the white van on Trafalgar Street in Petersham shortly after.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop, a pursuit began, and extra units from Burwood Police, PolAir and the Dog Unit were called to assist.

A short time later, police located the white van on Trafalgar Street, Petersham.

The pursuit continued through multiple suburbs in Sydney's Inner West area before the vehicle came to a stop at a park on Mitchell Street in Croydon Park.

Two men, aged 41 and 38, were arrested at the scene and taken to Burwood Police Station, where inquiries are ongoing.
