Over 4,000 units of prohibited tobacco seized: CPA

Dakhliyah – Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) in Dakhliyah Governorate has successfully intercepted and confiscated a significant quantity of prohibited tobacco products following a targeted operation at a residential property. Acting on intelligence regarding illegal trade activities, officials discovered that expatriate workers were utilizing a private residence to store and sell banned substances, including “Afdal” brand chewing tobacco and illicit cigarettes. This discovery constitutes a serious breach of the Sultanate’s Consumer Protection Law and established public health regulations.

During the coordinated raid, conducted in partnership with local security authorities, inspectors seized exactly 4,350 cans and units of the prohibited items. These products were prepared for clandestine distribution, bypassing legal retail channels and posing a direct threat to community health and safety. The Authority has confirmed that the seized goods have been confiscated and that formal legal proceedings are currently underway against the individuals involved.
