New Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy addressed the media on Tuesday, and it didn't take long for the tears to start flowing.

A Pittsburgh native, McCarthy was visibly emotional as he told reporters how much this new position meant to him, growing up a Steelers fan and having the honor of serving the organization as Mike Tomlin's successor.

“Often times, coaches and players put on new team colors, and it takes a minute to feel comfortable in those new colors. But to be blessed beyond any measure, one day to put on the colors you wore since you were brought home from Mercy Hospital,” McCarthy said as he fought back tears. “…I understand and embrace the responsibility, the privilege, and the weight that comes with this stewardship. This city, this franchise, this fan base, it means the world to me. Because Pittsburgh is my world. And it's just awesome to be back here.”

McCarthy went on to thank former Steelers head coaches Bill Cowher and Tomlin, stating he was “honored to follow in their footsteps.”

Fans didn't offer the warmest of welcomes for McCarthy, but there's no debating he's beginning to win over some of Steelers Nation with his honest and genuine display of gratitude.
