Manali misery: Stranded tourists trek 10-20km with luggage; highway sees 8-km jam

Manali is paralyzed by heavy snowfall, with national highways blocked and hundreds of tourists stranded. Accumulations of one to two feet of snow and black ice have halted traffic, forcing many to abandon vehicles and trek through deep snow. Tourists are stuck for over 24 hours in freezing conditions with limited facilities.
