Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is again being linked with a departure as his contract at Old Trafford approaches its end.

Bruno Fernandes turned down an offer from Saudi Arabia over the summer, instead choosing to stay loyal to Manchester United.

A few months later, he gave a surprising interview in which he accused the club’s leadership of lacking courage and implied they were pushing him out.

Fernandes is under contract until 2027, but even though time is ticking down, his performances for the Red Devils remain as strong as ever.

There are reports that suggest United want to keep Fernandes around, but talk of a potential 2026 exit continues to linger.

Speaking on the Transfer Insiders podcast, transfer expert Alex Crook commented on the likelihood of Fernandes leaving United in the summer.

“Yeah, I think if you were asking me to give you a percentage, I think it’s probably 60-40 that Bruno Fernandes was to leave at the end of the season,” Crook said.

“We know he’s got this release clause of less than £60 million that top clubs in Europe can activate. I think he might feel that maybe he’s ready for a new challenge, that he’s taken Manchester United as far as he can.”

Back in October, reports suggested Fernandes had ‘no interest’ in joining the Saudi Pro League.

Fernandes continues to put up big numbers for United

With over 100 goals to his name, Fernandes is now closing in on a century of assists as well.

Following his latest assist in the 3-2 win over Arsenal, Fernandes has reached double-digit assists for the second straight season, and there are still 15 games left in the 2025/26 campaign.

Kevin De Bruyne holds the current Premier League record for most assists in a single season, and Fernandes could come close to that mark before this campaign wraps up.

Even at 31, Fernandes remains central to everything United do. He’s not showing any signs of slowing down either.

Ineos would be better off securing his future at the club instead of looking for someone new. Replacing him right now doesn’t make much sense.
