The discovery that Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton) has married Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) has left Emmerdale’s Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) shocked, concerned and, dare I say it, a tiny bit jealous.
The seed of this marriage was planted a few episodes ago when Kerry discovered that Eric had opened a bank account in her name and put £15,000 in it. She immediately went off on a spending spree only to find out that the money was intended as a nest egg for Jacob (Joe-Warren Plant).
Eric explained that he wanted to make sure Jacob was financially secure in his future – a future that may include having to look after his baby on his own because of Sarah (Katie Hill)’s life-limiting illness. By siphoning off cash into different accounts, Pollard was trying to ensure his money didn’t all end up being used up if he needed to go into a care home himself later on.
And at that point Kerry declared that there might be a more efficient way of doing things – and said she had an idea. This wedding was the idea.
The ceremony ended up taking place just before Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) and Jacob Gallagher’s (Joe-Warren Plant) plan to get hitched, and neither of them were impressed to see Kerry and Eric at the registry office.
‘This wedding was a massive shock to Sarah and Jacob plus it means they missed out on their wedding. Jacob has been planning this special day to marry the girl of his dreams. He’s fuming because he doesn’t even know why they’ve done it, they’ve just completely ruined his day,’ Laura Norton said.
It didn’t take long for news of Kerry and Eric’s marriage to travel around the village, and one person who made it clear he wasn’t in favour of this was Jai.
A couple of weeks ago, Kerry and Jai started sleeping together. They ended up agreeing that they shouldn’t carry it on, as they weren’t exactly destined to be with each other. Despite this, they were both quietly gutted when it ended.
Jai couldn’t help but wonder what on earth Kerry was doing marrying Pollard. She confirmed that it wasn’t a romantic marriage, and that they only made things official for money. Jai leaned in for a kiss after but Kerry rejected him by putting a watermelon in front of his face. Watching this was Pollard, who was quietly relieved.
The problem is, Jai now knows that Kerry and Eric are happily committing fraud and he made it clear in today’s episode that he wouldn’t hesitate in telling the police if need be. Eric tried to silence Jai later by reminding him that he knows what happened to his Uncle Amit, but that didn’t work.

Jai told Eric that the reminder he pushed his biological father down the stairs, tortured, and forced him to leave the country after has done nothing but make him reflect on the fact he really is capable of a lot.
If Eric wants to prevent Jai from reporting him and Kerry to the police, he’s going to have to think of another way.
‘He’s going to be a problem, isn’t he?’, Kerry pondered.
What will they do to continue their plan, but keep Jai quiet at the same time?
