Kate Garraway had an unusual start to her day on ITV’s breakfast show, Good Morning Britain, as she had to ‘glue [her] teeth on’ before going live.
Hours before the programme started, the presenter was using denture fixative to keep them in place.
Kate, 58, had an ‘unfortunate collision with a taxi window’ over the weekend, and cracked her two front teeth caps.
Chaos then ensued on Monday morning, when they fell out just before she went on air.
On Instagram, the Celebrity Traitors star told her followers about the madness using a video to sum-up the pre-show scenes, titled ‘BTS at GMB – Horror!’
Kate displayed a smile featuring her broken gnashers, before panning to a close up of the tooth cap that had come off.
The video then cut to open tube of Fixident that was positioned next to a cup of tea by a computer keyboard – all soundtracked to the fittingly dramatic Vivaldi Winter Drill #2.
In her caption, the 58-year-old wrote: ‘All I can say is it’s hard to appear young and cool in front of a whole new team of trendy producers when you are reduced to gluing your teeth on with denture fixative at three in the morning!’
Good Morning Britain (GMB) has moved to a different studio in Covent Garden with new producers at ITN.
The news presenter went on, poking fun at her fellow Celebrity Traitors co-star: ‘An emergency trip to dentist means now have a temporary set of fake teeth… but they are soooo massive – bless you @alancarr I now know your challenges!!’
Both Alan and Kate were on the first season of The Traitors spin-off, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, which aired in Autumn last year.
Kate lasted a total of eight episodes, while Alan made it to the very end, winning the prize pot of £87,500 for his chosen charity, Neuroblastoma UK.
Fans and colleagues commented under Kate’s post with shock and also praise for making them laugh.
GMB presenter Susanna Reid said: ‘Oh my’, while Charlotte Hawkins echoed her surprise: Oh my goodness Kate!! Hope it’s fixed soon.’
Others thanked the presenter for giving them a giggle. Sonya Bradley wrote: ‘Oh no Kate, you made me laugh but only because I can just imagine how you felt, good for you laughing about it.’
‘You’re hilarious and I love you’, said Donna Ashworth.
And Siobhan Mcconville-Freer said: ‘You are one resilient soul that’s why we love you Kate.’
In January 2024, Kate lost her husband, Derek Draper, after he suffered with severe complications from Covid.
The couple were married for nearly 20 years before he died, nearly four years after first being diagnosed with the the infectious disease.
Good Morning Britain returns tomorrow morning at 6am on ITV.
