The UK is facing an uphill task to bring Eurovision glory back to the nation after Look Mum No Computer was chosen for the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest.

The experimental singer and YouTuber, who is based in Kent, has been described as a multi-talented solo artist, live electronics performer and composer.

Yesterday morning, his announcement as the UK’s entry for the song competition was made live on The Scott Mills Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2.

However, so far, the performer has been priced up as a big outsider to win this year’s competition, according to exclusive odds given to Metro.

Current odds have placed the Youtuber at 30/1 to end 29 years of hurt for Britain since Katrina and the Waves won the annual event way back in 1997.

Finland are the early favourites at 5/1 with Greece 6/1 second favourites. Sweden and Israel are joint third-favourites at 17/2, with Italy a 10/1 shot.

Meanwhile, Portugal are the early shout to finish bottom of the pile, after being priced up the longest odds of 70/1 to win Eurovision.

A spokesperson for Paddy Power said: ‘Hopefully it won’t be a case of Look Mum, Nul Points for the UK’s Eurovision entry this year, although at 30/1 it can’t be ruled out.

‘Our number crunchers put Britain’s chances at somewhere between ‘surprise package’ and ‘where did that finish?’ — but we’ve seen bigger outsiders steal the spotlight before.’

Look Mum No Computer began his career in 2014 as Sam Battle, the frontman of the indie rock band ZIBRA, who performed on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury.

Launching his YouTube channel in 2016, the performer currently has more than 85million views and 1.4million followers across several of his social media accounts.

Asked about being picked for Eurovision, he said: ‘I find it completely bonkers to be jumping on this wonderful and wild journey.

‘I have always been a massive Eurovision fan, and I love the magical joy it brings to millions of people every year, so getting to join that legacy and fly the flag for the UK is an absolute honour that I am taking very seriously.’

He added: ‘I’ve been working a long-time creating, writing, and producing my own visions from scratch, and documenting my process. I will be bringing every ounce of my creativity to my performances, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear and see what we’ve created.

‘I hope Eurovision is ready to get synthesised!’

The iconic song contest returns in Vienna this year in May, however several countries, including Ireland and Spain, have already dropped out following the The European Broadcasting Union’s (EBU) ruling to maintain Israel’s involvement.
