This week in Emmerdale, Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) has realised Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) is living two lives.
The first, is the one he’s very much here for. Joe is now in a stable relationship with Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley), and is working hard to build connections with her children Clemmie, Lucas and Evan. For someone who hasn’t grown up with a loving family unit, realising he doesn’t want to lose his new one has taken Joe by surprise.
The other life he’s living right now is the one where he proves he’s a Tate. Joe has now succeeded in getting the Sugden farmland, and remains determined he can get Butler’s as well.
After witnessing Joe with Clemmie, Graham wondered why on earth he is so hellbent on destroying Moira Dingle’s (Natalie J Robb) life, when it’s clearly tainting the newer, perhaps more tolerable, version of himself that’s appeared in recent months.
Joe didn’t care for Graham’s opinion. Money sits at the centre of Joe’s moral compass after all, which means it can turn him into a horrible person whenever he sees the opportunity to gain more of it.
A couple of days ago, Joe was told to reign it in a bit by Kim Tate (Claire King). She told him to hold off trying to get Butler’s, because she didn’t want to make Moira’s situation even worse.
When this man wants something though, simply being a tiny bit more considerate of someone else isn’t going to stop him from getting it.
Next week, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) returns from another visit to the prison and finds Joe on the sofa. He tries to grab Joe by the collar to throw him out, but Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) breaks up the fight and tells Cain that he let Joe in.
Matty urges Cain to stop fighting with everyone and instead focus on supporting his wife. It leaves Cain near breaking point, but it leaves Joe feeling more smug than ever before.
Back at Home Farm, Joe assures Kim that Moira’s farm will soon be theirs, but is he right?
He’s going about securing the land in a way that both Kim and Graham aren’t exactly keen on.
