The family of a ‘rebel’ artist missing for three years have released a tribute after her body was found in Liverpool.
Delia McInerney, 64, is thought to have died aroud April 2023, but her remains were only discovered on January 8 after police searched a flat in Gerards Court, St Helens.
McInerney, who would have been 64 when her body was found, lived in a house on Douglas Road in Anfield, Liverpool, which has also been searched by Merseyside Police.
Rita McInerney said her late sister had been ‘a rebel – intelligent with a dynamic personality, kind, caring and helpful. She was well-loved as a sister and friend. I will miss her always.’
Delia’s sister Rita McInerney said ‘she was a great artist, a free spirit, really “out there”.

On Saturday, Merseyside Police announced George Gordon, 65, had been charged with McInerney’s murder as well as three counts of fraud and one of theft.
Gordon, of Gerards Court in St Helens, had already been charged with preventing the lawful and decent burial of a body and obstructing a coroner.
A trial date has been set for October and he is due to make his next appearance at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday.
