Israeli fighter jets intercept Wizz Air plane from London after ‘passenger changes WiFi name to terrorist’

Israeli fighter jets scrambled to intercept a Wizz Air flight from London to Tel Aviv after ‘threatening messages were sent to passengers’.

The plane was flying from Luton to Ben-Gurion airport when the ‘security incident’ unfolded.

At least one passenger received an unusual message that raised fears about an attempt to harm the aircraft.

The crew informed the control tower at Ben-Gurion Airport and they sent fighter jets to escort the plane.

The Wizz Air plane landed safely in Israel before security personnel checked all passengers.

N12 News reports that authorities believe a passenger changed a WiFi account name to ‘terrorist’ and sent threatening messages to other passengers.

The incident remains under investigation.

The Airports Authority said: ‘Due to suspicion of suspicious behavior on the plane, security forces acted according to the procedures for such a case. The incident ended. The plane landed and it was found that there was no actual incident.’
