Rebecca Ferguson has reflected on the shocking moment a fellow actor ‘screamed’ at her while filming, saying she would now handle it differently.

Two years ago, the Dune star revealed she once demanded her co-star leave the set after they shouted ‘in her face’.

She told Reign with Josh Smith that she had asked to instead to act opposite a tennis ball, with the actor edited into the scene in post.

So far, Rebecca, 42, has stayed silent on who the culprit is – although fans have some theories – but denied it was Tom Cruise or Hugh Jackman.

However, she’s now told Harper’s Bazaar UK, her choice to speak out ‘wasn’t about the person.’

‘It was about me,’ Rebecca explained. ‘It was so scary. I didn’t know then how to go, “Hey, can I talk to you privately?”

‘Now, I would want to believe that I could have taken this person aside.’

She called the actor who did it ‘insecure and angry’ but noted they were number one on the call sheet so there was nobody willing to support her.

Now, she’s much more assertive, adding: ‘A lot of people say that we’ve become too woke, but I think, no, it’s great. The pendulum needs to swing to the other side so that we can find a balance in between.’

Rebecca said at the time she walked off set crying after being belittled by them but came back the next day and demanded some respect.

The Mission Impossible actress once told Metro her ‘bluntness’ might be key to landing some of her iconic roles, all of which are strong women.

‘I speak my mind,’ she told us, although did add  ‘I very rarely try to analyse my own behaviour.’

On the podcast, she shared that producers told her she couldn’t tell this number one to ‘get off my set’.

However, she then went to the director and demanded that they explain why the behaviour was allowed to continue.

Rebecca continued: ‘The director said, “You’re right. I am not taking care of everyone else. I’m trying to fluff this person. Because it’s so unstable.

‘It was great from that moment, but it took so long for me to get to that. It’s within my last 10 or 12 years, and I’ve acted since I was 16.’

During the Harper’s Bazaar interview, she also discussed how fame can be ‘harrowing and weird’ as being recognised is such an ‘ego boost’.

UK Special Screening of "Dune"

The Greatest Showman star admitted she’s ‘grateful’ now that she’s not hounded by paparazzi but does notice when the red carpet ‘goes silent’ because she’s not Timothee Chalamet or Zendaya.

Over a decade on from her breakout role in Channel 4 TV series The White Queen, Rebecca is busier than ever.

She’s set to reprise her role in the next Dune film, due out later this year, as well as starring in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

The film, set to be released on Netflix next month, sees Cillian Murphy returning as Tommy Shelby, as well as Barry Keoghan joining the cast.

Rebecca promised she’s not even attempted to adopt a Brummie accent as it would ‘ruin the film’.

The March issue of Harper’s Bazaar UK, with Rebecca’s full interview, is on sale now.
