Just when we think the transfer portal and all of its chaos are winding down, Ohio State football has nabbed some help in the trenches out of the other side.
Former Dartmouth offensive tackle Vasean Washington took to our favorite social media platform, X, on Wednesday to announce that he's transferring to the banks of the Olentangy after visiting tropical Columbus last Friday. At 6-foot, 5-inches, and 285 pounds, Washington is an Ohio native hailing from Springfield High School.
Washington played four years at the Ivy League school and excelled at right tackle last year, allowing zero sacks in eight games last season. He started at other spots on the offensive line as well, showing that he could plug in wherever there is a need for Ohio State. He had other starts at left guard and left tackle. He will have one year of eligibility remaining as a graduate transfer.

It remains to be seen how Washington will fit into the mix. Ohio State has all but one starting offensive lineman back, but clearly, the right side of the line could use an upgrade based on the last two games of the season. That will either come through development, or new bodies, the latter being Washington.
However, the OSU coaches have shown in the past that bringing in an experienced offensive lineman for his last season does not necessarily mean he will start. In fact, last offseason, Rice transfer Ethan Onianwa is a case in point. He never elbowed his way into the starting rotation last season for the Buckeyes. So, Washington will get a look, but he'll have to earn it, presumably from either Phillip Daniels, Joshua Padilla, Gabe VanSickle, or Ian Moore.
Onward and upward. Here's to hoping the increased competition results in a better performance against top-tier level defensive lines next season.
