After a brief and unsuccessful spell at Barcelona, it was believed that Vitor Roque’s European career had come to an early end, especially after he returned to Brazil to play for Palmeiras.
The Brazilian giants paid as much as €25 million for his services, despite his struggles in Europe. However, that move has proven to be a masterstroke for the club.
That is because Roque’s stock has skyrocketed since his return to Brazil, with the forward racking up 20 goals and five assists in 59 competitive matches for Palmeiras.
Thanks to his brilliant performances at Palmeiras, Roque could be set for a return to Europe, with the forward closing in on a move to the Premier League, reports MARCA.
What this means for Barcelona
Barcelona are not interested in bringing back Vitor Roque to the club. But the club will take an interest in his potential move to the Premier League.

That is because the Catalans had added a 20% sell-on fee clause in his contract at Palmeiras, meaning the club will be entitled to 20% of the player’s transfer fee.
This means the Blaugrana are now bracing themselves for a slight financial boost. A potential move amounting to €50 million, after all, could see Barça pocketing as much as €10 million.
Most importantly, it will help Barcelona recoup all the investment they had made in the player when they initially signed him from Athletico Paranaense.
This works quite favourably for the Catalan giants, who are in desperate need of an economic boost as they look to return to the 1:1 rule before the summer break.
As for Roque, it will be interesting to see if the Brazilian can make a statement by proving himself in the Premier League.
