The Traitors victor Stephen has spoken about why he didn’t fancy doing one of the show’s classic risque shower scenes after he met his fellow cast.
The 32-year-old cybersecurity expert was spared the BBC show’s classic bedtime cutaway scenes, since Claudia Winkleman selected him as one of her turret trio from the off.
But he had already spoken with the production team about what his nighttime rituals for the camera might be, the series four winner said in an interview on Tuesday.
‘We theoretically discussed what mine would be. I was asked if I was comfortable doing a shower scene, I said yes,’ he said on the radio, before adding, ‘This was before I’d met the rest of the cast.’
Once he did meet the fellow recruits for the Scottish castle stint, Stephen told Greg James on Radio 1: ‘I saw Jack’s a PT, Ross is a PT, Sam’s absolutely gorgeous, Matty’s absolutely gorgeous.
‘I spoke to the producers and said, “I can’t do a shower scene, I’m really sorry. I’ve just seen the rest of the men in this cast”.’
DJ James was left questioning why the slow-motion shower scenes are elbowed onto the cast.

‘I don’t think they push it,’ the Isle of Lewis native replied, ‘but I think if people want to flaunt themselves in that manner, then they’re more than welcome to.’
The shower scene recipient of this series did indeed end up being one of the names Stephen listed, with 35-year-old creative director Matthew going topless in the name of TV, before he was eventually banished at the roundtable.
Before that, the last iteration of the bedtime shower scene was during the first-ever Celebrity Traitors, when Tom Daley stepped under the jets shortly before the Traitors wrote his name on their murderous scroll.
How is Stephen planning to spend his prize money?
Traitorous two Rachel and Stephen banished and murdered their way to a 50/50 split of the £95,750 prize pot.
So how is Stephen planning to spend his half? He told Metro in an interview after Friday night’s finale.
He might not have received the money in his bank account quite yet, but he said, ‘My partner and my parents have just been such a rock because our lives have been so strange for the last 12 months, almost, going through all emotions.
‘I would love to give them a little holiday, a wee break and relax, because I’ve put them through the wringer.’
He told Metro in an interview at the time: ‘Those bedtime shots are always a little bit tongue in cheek and a little bit on the nose. That’s the fun of it.
‘It plays into the campiness of it all, because The Traitors is a pretty camp show.’
As for the shower itself? ‘Surreal’ is the word he used, before hastily clarifying that he was not completely nude when he stood under the running shower head with the lights and camera of the BBC production.
‘I was like, why not? Do a random shot in the shower. I’m gonna join the Freddie [Fraser] shower club.’
