Former Notre Dame running back Tony Jones Jr. spent the last five seasons trying to make his mark in the NFL, but couldn’t even find a home.

He played for three different teams, having multiple stints with the New Orleans Saints, but after averaging just 3.4 yards-per-carry, he couldn’t find a team this past season. Jones wanted to continue his professional football career, but it won’t be at the highest level, as the BC Lions of the CFL announced that they’ve signed him.

The details of the deal are unknown, but he did do well for himself while playing in the NFL. The expectation is that he’ll give the Lions a big threat in the running game.

Jones had a solid Notre Dame career, rushing for 1,481-yards with 12 touchdowns and 273-yards receiving with two more scores. He had his best season with the Irish as a senior, rushing for 857-yards and half of his career rushing scores.

We with Jones the best with the Lions, as he’ll try to make his mark on the field in the CFL.
