Barcelona president Joan Laporta was one of the stars of the Festa de l’Esport Catala, where Joan Garcia was honoured with the Premio Proyección 2025 award.

After greeting the Barcelona goalkeeper, Laporta expressed his delight at the award received by the 24-year-old star.

“It is recognition for Joan Garcia and, by extension, it is also recognition for Barça because we have the best goalkeeper in the world.

“He is a player with great potential who is already a reality and we are very happy to have him at our club,” said Laporta, as reported by SPORT.

Barcelona’s objectives

Beyond individual success, Laporta also turned his attention to the next objectives under Hansi Flick.

Barcelona have already lifted the Spanish Super Cup this season and currently sit one point clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga after their latest win against.

Europe now presents the next major challenge. Barcelona face a decisive Champions League fixture against Copenhagen, knowing that a convincing victory could secure direct qualification to the round of 16.

“The main objective this season is to be in all the competitions we are competing in until the end and win as many as we can.

“That’s why, after winning the Spanish Super Cup, we hope to stay alive in the Copa del Rey, continue doing well in La Liga, and advance directly to the Champions League round of 16.

“If we can’t do that, then we’ll advance to the round of 32 and take it step by step.

“The goal is, if possible, to have a better season than last year, which was already historic,” he said.

Everyone is feeling positive

While avoiding guarantees, Laporta made it clear that belief inside the club is strong.

He acknowledged the uncertainty that comes with elite football but stressed his confidence in the current project:

“I don’t have a magic wand, and I don’t know what will happen, but I’m sure we’ll be fighting until the end, so I hope we’ll have that bit of luck that’s always necessary and that we’ll be able, as I said, to win a competition.

“My intuition tells me that we are doing a great job and that we will be able to surpass what we achieved last season,” explained the Barça president.
