A hit drama from the 2000s has climbed Netflix’s top 10 TV chart as UK viewers dubbed it ‘one of the greatest shows ever’.

Set in Colorado, the four-part series, which originally aired on American network VB in 2002 until its finale in 2006, starred the likes of Chris Pratt in one of his early major television roles.

The series follows a renowned brain surgeon Andy Brown (Treat Williams), who moves his two children, Delia (Vivien Cardone) and Ephram (Gregory Smith), to the small town of Everwood after the death of his wife.

It follows the trio as they adjust to their new lives in the quiet, close-knit town, where they make new friends, including Pratt’s character Bright Abbott, and form romantic relationships.

The cosy nostalgic feel associated with this small-town hit drama has drawn comparisons to the highly adored Virgin River.

Centring on family bonds, grief and living in a small town, the series has also earned a reputation for being heartbreaking.

Writing on IMDb, tect-03564 described the show as ‘absolutely beautiful’, saying ‘this is what I look for in entertainment’.

Lotr_hp also claimed that they knew they would be hooked after ‘I cried so hard during that first episode’.

The IMDb user went on to say: ‘Everwood is a great show with real characters who bring you into their homes and you can’t help but let them into your hearts.’

Other viewers also hailed the series as being ‘excellent’, as Lili called it ‘one of the best series ever performed’, as bobberlife agreed: ‘Everwood has been my favorite show since it aired in 2002.’

Tommy, meanwhile, even called it ‘truly one of the greatest shows ever’.

However, while most viewers described it as ‘underrated’ and bemoaned the show only getting four seasons, some felt that as time went on the show started to lose its way.

Tamara wrote on the platform: ‘Started out promising, quickly descended into a train wreck,’ while Bob added: ‘It’s in later seasons where the show’s entertainment value takes a drop.’

The show’s new found popularity on Netflix comes after a crime drama that was dubbed a ‘snooze fest’ shot to number one in the chart’s rankings.

Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials held the number one spot, fighting off some serious competition.

Adapted from the writer’s 1929 novel of the same name, the three-part drama follows aristocratic sleuth Lady Eileen ‘Bundle’ Brent (Mia McKenna-Bruce) as she tries to unravel a murder at a lavish 1920s country house.

But, according to a large portion of viewers, they found the series ‘terrible’, as Phillip argued on X that it contained a ‘creaky script and boring tropes’.

Everwood is available to stream on Netflix.
