Marseille midfielder Angel Gomes has been told to find a new club during the transfer window, despite only joining last summer.
The 25-year-old left Lille at the end of last season when his contract came to an end, signing for Marseille on a three-year contract.
The former Manchester United player has featured regularly under Roberto De Zerbi this season, making 20 appearances in all competitions and scoring four goals.
However, according to French publication L’Equipe, Marseille already want to move on from Gomes and have informed him ‘that he must find a new club by February 2.’
It is a remarkable turnaround a matter of months into a three-year deal and with less than two weeks before the winter transfer window closes.
Gomes won four England caps in 2024 under interim manager Lee Carsley, after a good 2023/24 season with Lille when no player produced more assists in Ligue 1 than his eight.
Marseille are looking elsewhere, though, with a move to sign Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber close to completion.

Marseille are also interested in Angers star Himad Abdelli, according to L’Equipe, as De Zerbi revamps his midfield.
OM are also bringing in Arsenal prospect Ethan Nwaneri on loan this month, snapping up the 18-year-old for the rest of the season.
The teenager has long been seen as one of the brightest talents at the Emirates, making 37 appearances in his breakout season in 2024/25.
However, he is struggling for game time this campaign and is yet to make a Premier League start, with a short-term move providing more opportunities in France.
Marseille take on Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday night and De Zerbi would not be drawn on the incoming deal.
‘Regarding the transfer market, I don’t think it’s the right time to talk about it,’ he said.
‘I know him, he’s a good player. But you’ll have to ask [Marseille president Pablo] Longoria.’
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has not confirmed the move, but hinted that the teenager should be getting more time on the pitch than he has done amid huge competition for places at Arsenal.
‘I don’t know. We’ll have a discussion this week,’ said Arteta. ‘Obviously he’s not having the minutes that probably he deserves as well and he needs at his age.
‘We will address the situation and see what is best. Let’s see. We have to sit down and discuss how we want to move that forward.’
