Man found dead, ending manhunt after woman stabbed outside Melbourne home

A young man has been found dead in regional Victoria, ending a manhunt that began after a young woman was stabbed outside a home in Melbourne's east early this morning.

The 18-year-old woman was returning from a night out with friends when she was allegedly confronted by a man and stabbed about 1am outside a house on Miller Grove in Kew, according to police.

The woman was taken to hospital with what was initially believed to be life-threatening injuries.

The 18-year-old woman was returning from a night out with friends when she was allegedly confronted by a man outside a house on Miller Grove in Kew.

She is now in a stable condition and recovering in hospital.

Soon after the attack, police began searching for an 18-year-old Camberwell man.

About 6.15am, a Triple Zero call reported a body of a man in Antwerp, 356 kilometres north-west of Melbourne.

The death of the man is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the stabbing in Kew.
