Jodie Ramsay (Olivia Frances-Brown) does not mess about. The mysterious newcomer’s barely been on Coronation Street five minutes, and already she’s about to get in bed with the Devil…
The estranged sister of Shona Platt (Julia Goulding) has been one big question mark since she literally crashed onto our screens during the explosive events of Corriedale, but one thing we do know about her is that she’s got a bad track record with fellas.
They don’t come much badder than Emmerdale supervillain Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough), so soap fans were squealing with delight to see Jodie make her debut by escaping from the back of his van. It also appears that Jodie has suffered domestic violence, as she recently attended a support group for abuse survivors.
However, Jodie’s no angel. Confrontations with Shona have shown how she clearly blames her sister for leaving and abandoning her to their toxic parents. This is why Jodie’s been pouring poison about Shona in her stepdaughter Lily Platt’s (Grace Ashcroft Gardner) ear every chance she gets.
Executive Producer Kate Brooks has previously teased how Shona’s sister is a bit of a wild card who will bring chaos to the Platts’ doorstep.
‘Jodie is a really interesting character. She’s a bit of a troublemaker, she’s got a bit of mischief in her eyes. All is not what it seems with Jodie and there’s a lot of layers to her.
‘I think the audience are going to have a lot of fun unravelling who this person is, who Jodie is as a character and what she wants as well. Keep an eye on her because there’s lots of secrets to explode and she’s going to bring an awful lot of drama to the Platt household.’
That’s right, soap fans. We’ve got a bad girl on our hands. But if you think Jodie’s bad, she’s a choir girl compared to the bloke who’s about to turn her head…
… Enter Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard). The man who needs no introduction – just a prison cell.
He’s the kind of man you don’t bring home to meet the family – not unless you want him to have sordid affairs with half of them, con the rest out of their cash and then crash his car into the house for good measure.
After sleeping with his brother Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) wife and causing the hit-and-run that put Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) in a wheelchair, Carl outdid himself in the slimeball stakes by drunkenly causing the Corriedale car-cash that killed Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) and gaslighting his dementia-suffering sister Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) into take the blame – which is even worse after the revelation that Debbie is actually Carl’s mother.
Obvious Carl doesn’t put all that on his Tinder profile. But he should.

And Jodie just might wish he had. In upcoming episodes, the Cobble newbie gets a little too close to comfort with the local bad boy.
At Roy’s Rolls, Jodie offers to do a favour for Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and hold the fort whilst Nina goes to the wholesalers. This leads her to cross paths with Carl, and the two have a flirty back and forth – which is witnessed by Abi Webster (Sally Carman Duttine).
Abi knows better than anyone what kind of man Carl is. She cheated on Kevin with him for months and eventually left her husband so they could be together… only for the Worst Webster to do the dirty with James Bailey (Jason Callender).
So Abi calls at No.8 and warns Jodie that Carl is bad news and she’d be best to steer well clear. Shona agrees and gives her sister the full intel on his full sleazy track record.
Then Carl calls in the cafe and turns on the charm with Jodie.
Will Jodie fall for Carl?
