Urgent recall issued for Drinkmate bottles over potential explosion risks

Muscat – The Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has issued an official safety warning regarding specific carbonated beverage-making bottles due to a failure to meet approved specifications and standards. The alert concerns 1-litre bottles from the “Drinkmate” brand, specifically those marked with expiry dates ranging from January to October 2026.

According to the Authority, these products pose a significant risk to public health and safety. Technical assessments indicated that the bottles could potentially explode during use, presenting a direct threat of physical injury to consumers. This warning is part of the CPA’s broader mandate to monitor the marketplace and ensure that all available goods remain safe for public use.

In light of these findings, the Authority has advised all consumers to stop using the affected bottles immediately. The CPA has further instructed the public to contact the manufacturing company to arrange for a free replacement of the non-compliant items.

The Authority confirmed that its teams are actively monitoring markets across the Sultanate of Oman to ensure the removal of these dangerous products. Additionally, the Authority has urged the public to remain vigilant when purchasing items from online retailers, reminding consumers to verify that all goods adhere to official safety and quality standards before use.
