After choosing her bunny-boiling obsessive ex-wife over Carla Connor (Alison King), Lisa Swain’s (Vicky Myers) chances at winning back her true love look pretty grim. But God loves a tryer – and so does Coronation Street.
Someone needs to have a word with the recruitment office of Weatherfield’s police department. Because seriously. What utter donut let Lisa Swain be a detective? Fans have been screaming at their screens for months that her ex Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) was bad news.
You could tell the moment she rocked up on the cobbles with those crazy eyes and that questionable haircut. Faking her death to escape the wrath of gangsters was another big clue.
So was her constant scheming to drive a wedge between our beloved Swarla. But did Lisa listen to Carla’s concerns?
Did she heck.
After Lisa let the Swainiac inveigle her way back under her roof and into the affections of their daughter Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin), Carl finally had enough and packed her bags.
But she was determined not to give up exposing Becky for the woman-stealing sociopath she truly was, and teamed up with copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to bring her down. That didn’t go so well when Carla found herself bound and gagged in an airing cupboard.
But as far as Detective Inspector Lisa Swain was concerned, Carl had broken up with her and was abroad having a holiday to get over her broken heart.
Even when Kit came to Carla’s rescue, the nightmare wasn’t over. Their frantic pursuit of Becky, who was speeding towards a port about to whisk Lisa and Betsy overseas for a new life, plunged them into danger when all five of them were caught up in the Corriedale multi-car pileup.
Becky was finally exposed and sent to rot behind bars… but not before Carla found out that Lisa slept with her ex while she was busy languishing in that blasted airing cupboard.
After reeling from this heart breaking revelation, Carla understandably told Lisa where to go and called time on Swarla for good. Now in this sneak peak video, DS Swain is on the case to win back her woman with a heartfelt declaration of her feelings – and some flowers.
In the café, Lisa tells Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), Roy Cropper (David Neilson) and Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) that she sent Carla an invitation for lunch at the Bistro today and has spared no expense, hoping to win back her affections with a beautiful bouquet. While Lisa worries that she’s not heard back from Carla yet, she reckons she’ll know soon enough.

But Lisa can rest easy. Executive Producer Kate Brooks has already hinted that a reunion for Swarla may be on the cards.
‘Becky was an absolute obstacle thrown their way. Now they’ve dealt with Becky and her true colours have been revealed for all to see and Lisa’s realised the extent of the manipulation and the lies that Becky’s told, we’ll see them starting to make their way back to each other.
Obviously there’s a lot to get past but they love each other and that love never faltered throughout it all. The love remained strong, it was the circumstances that got in the way.
Now that the ghost of Becky has finally been put to bed they can move forward with their lives and they can look forward to their future together’
‘It’s going to be a romantic spring for Carla and Lisa, which will make many people smile, I imagine.’
Fingers crossed, Swarla fans!
