A former Love Island contestant was arrested as he landed at Gatwick Airport on claims of sexual assault, stalking and coercive control.

The man, who is in his 20s, has not been identified for legal reasons, but it has been confirmed that he is not from the latest series.

He was arrested when his plane landed in the UK after a woman contacted the police with the allegations, and has since been released on bail.

The TV personality is also accused of assault by beating, causing criminal damage, and making threats of revenge porn against his alleged victim.

‘These incredibly serious allegations are the last thing the show and ITV need given all the problems Love Island has faced in the past,’ a source told The Sun.

The Met Police launched their investigation on Saturday, November 15, with the arrest happening 12 days later.

Filming of the show was recently postponed due to wildfires (Picture: ITV)

This comes after wildfires in South Africa forced filming to be delayed for a short time as everyone had to evacuate the villa.

Previously, an ITV spokesperson said: ‘Further to a production evacuation owing to ongoing wildfires in the area, our assessment of the location site has concluded that filming will need to be postponed.

Health and safety is our greatest priority and will always come first, and therefore the transmission of Love Island: All Stars will be delayed until a date to be confirmed,’ they added.
