Ne-Yo has opened up about his relationship with his three girlfriends – saying he has ‘never been afraid of hard work.’ The 46-year-old pop icon — real name Shaffer Chimere Smith —appeared on the US chat show, Sherri, earlier this week, where he unpacked his polyamorous personal life, from Valentine’s gifts to sharing one massive bed. The musician is currently dating Arielle Hill, Cristina and Moneii, in what he refers to as his ‘pyramid.’ Last year, his romantic circle was a little larger, as there was a fourth woman in the mix: Brionna Williams. However, while there has been no public announcement regarding a split, social media cues from as recent as January 2026 suggest that she has left the non-monogamous set-up. (Picture: Getty Images)
Ne-Yo, who has previously described his love life as ‘phenomenal’ and revealed that he and his girlfriends share an Alaskan King-sized bed, was quizzed by host Sherri Shepherd about how his relationship works. Admitting that she understood ‘none of it,’ the singer responded by saying he’ll keep things ‘brief.’ He said: ‘So after my very public, very ugly divorce, I made the decision that I was never going to tell another lie to a woman ever again in life.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
For context, Ne-Yo was married to Crystal Renay Williams from 2016 until their divorce in 2023. The former couple share three children, Shaffer Jr., Roman, and Isabella. Crystal accused him of repeated infidelity — including him allegedly fathering a child with another woman during their marriage. She had publicly accused Ne-Yo of ‘eight years of lies and deception.’ Prior to his relationship with Crystal, Ne-Yo was engaged to Monyetta Shaw, with whom he also shares two children, Madilyn and Mason. In addition, Ne-Yo fathered two sons, Braiden and Brixton, born in 2021 and 2023, to influencer Sade Jenea Bagnerise. Referring to his divorce from Crystal he added: ‘I own the thing that I did in that marriage to mess it up. I own it completely. And I decided I didn’t want to be the reason that anybody ever felt like that ever again.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
The star then revealed that he had been dating ‘one of the three’ girlfriends for a considerable while longer than the others. He said that he suggested the idea of polyamory to her, explaining that it was something he wanted to explore. Ne-Yo recalled: ‘I basically went to her and said, “Listen, you know I rock with you. You know I love you, but I have to be honest with you. It’s not just you. I would love for you to meet these other women, and if we can figure out a way to do something together, cool. If not, that’s cool, too”.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
He also said that he gave each woman the choice to decide whether it would be something they would be interested in. Luckily, he said that ‘everybody chose to stick around,’ before explaining what polyamory means to him. He said: ‘The main understanding is I’m not in three relationships. I’m in one relationship with three people. We figure out ways to make everything work.’ In terms of the latter, that means spending ‘individual time’ with each woman is ‘just as important’ as group time. (Picture: Getty Images)
Finally, Ne-Yo joked that his lifestyle is less-than traditional when it comes to romantic holidays like Valentine’s Day. Sharing that each woman has their own love language, and that flowers won’t do for everyone, he cheekily said: ‘I’ve never been afraid of hard work. Never ever.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
Ne-Yo first introduced his then-four-women relationship to the world in March 2025. Taking to Instagram, he shared a carousel of videos and images, which consisted of selfies of each woman, moments spent with them individually, and a final shot of them all enjoying dinner together. The caption read: ‘Since the world is so intrigued, I guess I should introduce my loves properly. LADIES AND GENTS I PRESENT MY PYRAMID.’ Ne-Yo then shared the names of each woman, along with their Instagram handles and his nicknames for them. He penned: ‘CRISTINA aka PB (Pretty Baby), ARIELLE aka TF (Twin Flame), MONEII aka PF (Phoenix Feather), BRI aka SLS (Sexy Lil’ Somethin’),’ before adding: ‘Say something nice or move on with your life. We happy over here.’ (Picture: Getty Images)
