The latest viewing figures for Netflix are out. Every week the streaming mammoth releases a list of its top 10 most-watched TV shows and it often tells a tale of what’s happening in the world of pop culture. What can we learn from this latest batch of numbers and rankings? Well, that it seems as if the planet is still somewhat caught up in the pandemonium of the release of the final season of Stranger Things. However, we’ve got a new number one most-streamed show and there’s nothing Hawkins-based about it. So it appears that the Stranger Things furore may be quietening down finally… (Picture: Netflix)

10. Land of Sin – 3,200,000 views last week

This fairly bleak Scandinavian crime drama centres on a murder investigation that slowly exposes wider corruption within a small coastal community. What starts off as a contained case widens into something a little more personal for our lead, Detective Dani Anttila (Krista Kosonen). The appeal here lies in its patience rather than shocks, letting suspicion and tension build up pleasingly, episode by episode. It’s something of a sleeper hit and well worth checking out if you like this sort of thing. (Picture: Netflix)

9. The Good Doctor: Season 1 – 3,400,000 views

Television programme : THE GOOD DOCTOR - starring Freddie Highmore. SEASON 1 - EPISODE 101 - "Mount Rushmore"
This opening season from back in 2017 introduces a young surgeon with extraordinary diagnostic ability navigating life inside a busy hospital. Each episode balances a medical case with social issues. The structure is familiar and deliberately accessible, making it easy viewing for newcomers. It’s all about ethics and dilemmas, so it’s a fun watch and a decent conversation starter if you watch it with friends and family. Freddie Highmore stars as the titular good doc. STRANGER THINGS: SEASON 5. (L to R) Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, and Finn Wolfhard behind the scenes of Stranger Things: Season 5. Cr. Atsushi Nishijima/NETFLIX ?? 2024
Stranger Things’ fourth season pushes the series firmly into horror territory as the supernatural threat escalates beyond Hawkins and closer towards its epic conclusion. Multiple storylines run in parallel, gradually converging around a grisly new villain whose origins tie back into the show’s mythology. Episodes are longer and darker, meaning it’s not quite the knockaround 80’s hat tip it once was. But definitely has more of its own, stranger, vibe. (Picture: Netflix)

This mega hit show shifted tone properly for the first time here in its third outing. A season which is seen by many as the best. Leaning into brighter visuals and a more playful style, it’s a little more fun than the previous two runs. But the peril hasn’t gone anywhere. Set largely around a new shopping mall, it blends teenage drama with Cold War paranoia and body horror. Many viewers, we’re guessing, return to it because it sits comfortably between the innocence of the early episodes and the intensity of later seasons. (Picture: Netflix/Everett/Shutterstock)

6. Stranger Things: Season 2 – 4,500,000 views

Stranger Things Season 2
Oh, look. It’s another series of Stranger Things! Picking up after the initial mystery, season two expands the scope of the threat while exploring the fallout from what came before. The story deepens the show’s ongoing mythos, only sometimes re-treading old ground. Obviously, like other runs of the show in this list, people are rewatching the show in order to refresh their memory before catching the fifth and final season that was recently released and is proving such a giant hit for Netflix. 5. Emily in Paris: Season 5 – 4,500,000 views

This glossy and popular comedy-drama remains a reliable Netflix hit. Lily Collins continues to lean into Emily’s mildly irritating optimism and professional chaos, while the European backdrop proves nicely distracting. Fans enjoy the fashion, the escapism and the low-stakes drama, even when the plotting stretches credibility a tad. Its success often comes down to tone rather than story. It’s colourful, easy to watch and designed for comfort viewing, which keeps it charting here. (Picture: Netflix)

Stranger Things began back in 2017 with a child’s disappearance that unravelled a hidden world beneath a quiet Indiana town. What follows is a tightly-paced mystery inspired by 1980s cinema and 1920’s horror literature. The supernatural elements emerge gradually in this debut series, grounding the story before escalating it into the madcap sci-fi we all know and (mostly) all love. (Picture: Netflix)

3. Stranger Things: Season 5 – 9,300,000 views

STRANGER THINGS: SEASON 5. Sadie Sink as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things: Season 5. Cr. COURTESY OF NETFLIX ?? 2025
Last one, we promise. The final – and highest placed – series of Stranger Things in this most recent most-watched list is, of course, the fifth one. The latest. And last. The climax is big, it’s loud and it’s proven pretty controversial. It’s split opinion in the fanbase. But whatever fanatics make of it, there’s little argument that it’s proving to be yet another massive hit for Netflix. (Picture: Netflix)

2. Run Away – 15,600,000 views

This thriller – the latest from the Harlan Coben/Netflix factory line – follows a family destabilised by the sudden disappearance of a loved one, triggering revelations that stretch back years. Told across intersecting timelines, the plot drip-feeds info and plot across its eight episodes. Like other Coben adaptations, it prioritises pace and cliffhangers over subtlety. The cast is pretty stacked too. Look out for the likes of James Nesbitt, Ruth Jones, Alfred Enoch, Minnie Driver and Tracy-Ann Oberman. (Picture: Netflix)

1. His & Hers – 19,900,000 views

His & Hers. (L to R) Jon Bernthal as Detective Jack Harper and Tessa Thompson as Anna in Episode #101 of His & Hers. Cr. Courtesy of Netflix ?? 2025
In at top spot is a new psychological crime mystery thriller starring Jon Bernthal and Tessa Thompson. And if those two leads aren’t beautiful enough for you, Pablo Schreiber and Rebecca Rittenhouse co-star. Anna Andrews (Thompson) is a withdrawn TV news anchor who returns to her small hometown after a shocking murder grabs her attention. There, she crosses paths with her ex-husband Jack Harper (Bernthal), the detective heading up the case, who can’t work out why Anna’s back or why she’s taken such a personal interest in the investigation. Soon they begin to suspect each other of the heinous crime… (Picture: Netflix)
