Man charged with making several death threats to federal politician

A Western Sydney man has been accused of making death threats to a federal politician.

The 43-year-old man allegedly made several phone calls to the office of the politician, threatening to kill them.

The identity of the politician has not been revealed.

These calls allegedly took place on or before December 16.

A report was made to the Australian Federal Police (AFP), who searched a Greystanes home and found several electronic devices.

The man was issued with a court attendance notice and will appear before Parramatta Local Court today to face a charge of using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

If found guilty, the man could face up to five years' imprisonment.
