Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Corinthians to discuss a possible transfer move for promising young midfielder Breno Bidon, according to reports in Brazil.

Bidon finished the season strongly with Corinthians, playing an instrumental role in the club’s Copa do Brasil triumph to further establish himself as one of the most exciting talents in the country.

The 20-year-old made 56 matches in all competitions for the Sao Paulo-based outfit across a breakthrough 2025 campaign in what was only his third year since turning professional.

TNT Sports Brasil claim that Bidon’s outstanding performances have not gone unnoticed in Europe, with top teams in Italy and Portugal keeping close tabs on his progress.

The report adds that Premier League leaders Arsenal are also admirers and have approached Corinthians’ management to ‘seek information’ regarding Bidon’s potentially availability.

There has, though, been no formal offer made by the Gunners at this stage.

Bidon is attracting interest closer to home, too, with Flamengo said to have approached Dodici Sports, the agency that represents the youngster, just last week.

However, Flamengo, like Arsenal, are yet to test Corinthians’ resolve with a concrete bid for the central midfielder.

Bidon’s current contract with Corinthians runs through to December 2029.

While Bidon is yet to receive a senior Brazil call-up, he featured prominently last year as the Selecao won the South American Under-20 Championship title for a record 13th time.

Facing the media earlier this week, Corinthians head coach Dorival Junior was keen to stress just how ‘important’ Bidon was to his plans going forward.

Pressed on recent rumours that Bidon could leave, the ex-Brazil manager told reporters: ‘He’s a very important player and if I’m being honest with you, I wouldn’t like to lose any player.

‘We need to find balance so we can have a strong squad throughout the year.

‘That is our biggest challenge.’

Despite Arsenal spending in excess of £250million on new recruits last summer, Arteta has made no secret of the fact the club have been ‘actively looking’ at ways to improve their squad in the January transfer market.

‘The window is there and I mean we are Arsenal and we have to be looking at it, “Okay, what do we need?”, and we have to be actively looking,’ the Spaniard said before his side’s victory over Aston Villa.

‘And then, whether we can do it or not, that’s a different story.

‘But our job is to always be very prepared because something can happen, so hopefully it’ll be very positive.

‘When you look across the other clubs, they have 24 or 25 squad players.

‘Although we have had more injuries than expected, some of them not avoidable, we want to be better and we know how important the part of having the right availability with players is going to be this season.’
