TV host Emma Willis was left gasping with shock on live TV after being totally blindsided by a major Night Manager spoiler.

There’s nothing worse than accidentally stumbling across the biggest plot twist of your current TV obsession before having a chance to watch it.

Tragically, Big Brother star Emma lived all our worst nightmares in real time after she found herself knee-deep in a discussion about The Night Manager season two while appearing on The One Show.

The new season of the Tom Hiddleston-helmed BBC spy thriller returned after a decade long hiatus earlier this month with fans waiting with bated breath to see exactly what Jonathan Pine had been up to.

After episode three aired on Sunday February 11, the Loki star appeared on the BBC evening talk show on Monday with Roman Kemp and Clara Amfo to discuss all the twists and turns.

Unfortunately for the Love Is Blind host, who clearly hadn’t had a chance to tune in to the latest episode yet, she got caught in the crossfire.

(This is your official warning that there are spoilers ahead).

As talk turned to episode three, Emma immediately protested, dramatically exclaiming several ‘No’s’ to the studio, including to a highly amused Tom and fellow guest Paul Chahidi.

Although Emma couldn’t escape her fate (despite attempting to stick her fingers in her ears), Roman was more merciful to viewers at home by giving them a chance to mute before diving into the discussion.

It seems as though the warning was very much needed because next thing we know, Clara declared: ‘We have to talk about Hugh Laurie, he’s back as Richard Roper’.

That’s right, the first season’s villain and main antagonist, Richard, made a shock cameo in the latest episode after Jonathan discovers he is the mysterious Gilberto Hanson.

The revelation received a suitably loud yelp from Emma, as she shrieked ‘what!’ while Tom says: ‘I know, I know!’, especially since the audience assumed his character was ‘gone for good’ following a post-mortem.

The discussion took a more civil turn at that point as Tom shared his reaction to the gobsmacking twist.

‘It’s amazing, it’s such a moment of pulling the rug out from underneath Jonathan Pine, from the audience.

‘The show opens with Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) and Jonathan identifying Richard Roper’s dead body, the big bad wolf is out. There’s some satisfaction, closing of a chapter, some sort of relief,’ he reflected.

Then as Jonathan finds himself deep in the jungles of Columbia he ‘hears Roper’s voice before he sees him and realises he’s been running this whole operation… his whole world’s been turned upside down.’

He also teases that ‘you realise these two characters are going to confront each other again…’

After all of that, Emma took the blow like a champ, saying with a grin on her face: ‘And I’m still gonna watch it because you set it up so well.’

As for how on earth ‘the worst man in the world’ is back on our screens, Hugh shared with the BBC exactly where Richard has been the whole time.

‘For a large chunk of the intervening years, he was a prisoner, essentially a hostage to the shadowy cartel to whom he owed a great deal of money.

‘Initially they were going to simply kill him, but Roper’s a good talker and he’s quick on his feet, and he was able to bargain with them,’ he explained.

His return is not the only moment in the episode which had fans buzzing. During another scene, Jonathan found himself in the middle of a sensual dancing session with  Diego Calva as Teddy and Camila Morrone as Roxana that viewers have declared the ‘sexist scene of the decade’.
