There’s a nasty surprise in store for Queen Vic landlady Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace) when she returns to Walford in EastEnders next week.
With her daughter Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan) currently banged up for Anthony Trueman’s (Nicholas Bailey) murder, Kat recently headed off to Corfu in the hope of tracking down the devious Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman).
Veteran villain Chrissie made a shock reappearance over Christmas when it was revealed she’d been working with Zoe’s long-lost daughter Jasmine Fisher (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) to torment her over the last few months as revenge for getting Chrissie sent down for murdering ex-husband Den Watts (Leslie Grantham) back in 2005.
While Chrissie has since skipped town, Kat and Jasmine have become convinced she is Anthony’s real killer, after he was found dead in The Vic on Christmas Day, and has framed Zoe.
So far, Zoe has resisted mentioning Chrissie’s name to the police, worried about the consequences it could have for Jasmine.
And when Kat returns from Greece on Monday, she is shocked by Zoe’s latest actions to protect her daughter.
When she and Jasmine go to visit Zoe in prison, they are horrified when Zoe tells them she’s decided to plead guilty to killing Anthony, claiming she acted in self-defence following an altercation they had just moments before his death.
Ever the fiercely protective mother, Kat insists that they must tell the police about Chrissie, believing the case against Zoe would fall apart if they knew about her revenge campaign.
But it seems Zoe is very much her mother’s daughter, and desperate to keep Jasmine out of Chrissie’s warpath, she once again refuses to tell the full story to the coppers.
It’s then up to Kat to try and convince Jasmine to make a statement, which she appears to succeed in when the teen tells her she will come forward to the cops.
Little does Kat realise, however, that Jasmine is doing no such thing and is, in fact, plotting to skip town with her boyfriend Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier)…
So what is Jasmine really up to, and will she really let her long-lost mum rot in jail?
