Ren?e Macklin Ren?e Good -- A woman shot dead by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minnesota has been named as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. Good was named by her mother Donna Ganger, who spoke to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune on Wednesday afternoon. 'That?s so stupid', Ganger said of her daughter's death. 'She was probably terrified.' Ganger also insisted Good was 'not part of anything like that,' referring to protests against ICE taking place around the time and place where Good was killed.

A fundraiser for the family of Renee Nicole Good who was shot dead by an ICE agent in Minneapolis has raised more than $1.5 million.

Renee was shot and killed on January 7 as she sat behind the wheel of her car in a residential neighbourhood by immigration officer Jonathan Ross.

He fired three times at Ms Good, a 37-year-old US citizen and mum-of-three, who was not the target of the operation and had tried to drive her SUV away from the scene

A GoFundMe has been started to support her wife and her son, with nearly $2 million raised.

Closing the fundraiser which had the target set at $50,000, Renee’s wife Becca said: ‘First, I want to extend my gratitude to all the people who have reached out from across the country and around the world to support our family.

‘This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind. In fact, kindness radiated out of her.

‘Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn’t wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine.

‘Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow. Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole.

‘Like people have done across place and time, we moved to make a better life for ourselves. We chose Minnesota to make our home. Our whole extended road trip here, we held hands in the car while our son drew all over the windows to pass the time and the miles.’

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer fatally shot a woman Wednesday morning in south Minneapolis, where federal and local law enforcement have clashed for hours with protesters. McLaughlin, Homeland Security's assistant secretary for public affairs, said the victim was ''one of these violent rioters'' who ''weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them - an act of domestic terrorism.'' Mass protests have erupted in cities across the US following fierce criticism of official claims that Ross acted in self-defence and revelations that state detectives are being blocked from investigating the incident.

Now Vice President JD Vance has insisted Ross is completely immune from potential moves by Minnesota prosecutors to open a criminal case against him.

‘The precedent here is very simple. You have a federal law enforcement official engaging in federal law enforcement action – that’s a federal issue. That guy is protected by absolute immunity. He was doing his job.

‘I’ve never seen anything like that. It would get tossed out by a judge.’

Ed Ross, the dad of Jonathan Ross, defended his son’s decision to shoot Good dead, in an interview with the Daily Mail.

‘She hit him,’ said the 80-year-old. ‘He also had an officer whose arm was in the car. He will not be charged with anything.’

Defending his son, he described him as a ‘committed and conservative Christian, a tremendous father, a tremendous husband.’

‘You would never find a nicer, kinder person,’ the father added. ‘ I couldn’t be more proud of him.’
