With her super-cool veneer, acerbic tongue and ability to remain utterly detached from even those who are desperate to get closer to her, EastEnders’ Jasmine Fisher’s (Indeyarna Donaldson-Holness) has always seemed untouchable.
Yup, our Jas’ is a pretty tough cookie. Next week, though, cracks begin to form in her perfectly engineered front and all of the recent trauma she’s endured looks to finally take its toll on her.
We’re surprised it hasn’t happened sooner, to be fair.
Abandoned at the hospital by Zoe Slater (Michelle Ryan), who believed she was stillborn, being kicked out by her adoptive mum and allying with super bitch, Chrissie Watts (Tracy-Ann Oberman) to seek revenge against her mum before learning that Anthony Trueman (Nicholas Bailey) was her real dad, and he’d not long been murdered, the youngster has had a hell of a time since rocking up in Walford.
Despite it looking like Chrissie dealt Anthony the final blow before scarpering and framing Zoe for the slaying, the latter has refrained from mentioning her nemesis to the police in order to keep her new-found daughter safe, and because of that, is looking at an incredibly long stretch.
In her absence, Jasmine has been taken in by Zoe’s mum and stepdad, Kat and Alfie Moon (Jessie Wallace and Shane Richie), though her previous hobby of stalking Zoe and turning the Slaters against each other has bitten her square on the rear, and she’s struggled to gel with the rest of the Slater/Moon clan, in particular, Jean (Gillian Wright), who’s suffered a mental health relapse, during which, her delusions have convinced her that Jasmine is an enemy, come to destroy the family.
On the advice of boyfriend, Oscar Branning (Pierre Counihan-Moullier), she reached out to her paternal grandad, Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker), though he initially rejected her, still deeply affected by grief after his sons death.
Next week, when news comes to the Truemans that they’re able to visit Anthony at the chapel of rest, and Yolande (Angela Wynter) encourages Patrick to fix things with his granddaughter.
The following day, Jasmine offers to babysit Lily Slater’s (Lillia Turner) daughter, Charli, but fails to realise that the baby monitor is broken when she heads downstairs to meet with Patrick. Though Jasmine is heartened as she bonds with her grandad, the moment is utterly ruined when Lily returns home, finds Charli crying, and royally boots off at Jasmine.
Patrick invites Jasmine to stay with the Truemans after her bitter clash with Lily, though privately worries to Yolande about her volatile nature.
It seems he’s quite right to be concerned when Denise Fox (Diane Parish) later invites Jasmine to visit Anthony alongside the rest of the family, leading to her heading off on a bender after clashing with Oscar.

Returning home the next day in a drunken mess, Yolande tries to sober her up, before Jasmine ends up in yet another scrap, this time with Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams), who, in the heat of battle, spills the tea that Jasmine’s dad was hardly squeaky clean.
With Jasmine actively in self-destruct mode, surrounded by carnage and at odds with both of her new families, is there any way to mend things? As the Slaters fight for Zoe’s freedom and the Truemans grieve for Anthony, will Jasmine find herself on the outs?
