Hong Kong’s Law Reform Commission has called for acts endangering national security to be treated as aggravating factors under sweeping proposed legislation that aims to clamp down on cybercrime.
Senior counsel Derek Chan Ching-lung, chairman of the commission’s cybercrime subcommittee, said on Friday that while the Beijing-imposed national security law of 2020 was sufficient to address cyber threats, the government was better placed to evaluate whether further reforms were needed.
