Mahindra & Mahindra on Friday announced a key leadership change in its human resources division, with Rohit Thakur set to take over as Group Chief Human Resources Officer from 2 April 2026, succeeding Ruzbeh Irani, who will retire after more than 19 years with the company. The move is part of the company’s structured succession plan, aimed at ensuring continuity in senior management leadership. Irani, who has been a pivotal figure on Mahindra’s Group Executive Board, will step down following his superannuation on 1 April 2026. The company expressed gratitude for his “exceptional contributions” during nearly two decades at the helm of HR strategy.Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra were trading at Rs 3,714.55 per scrip, down 9.60 points or 0.26% as of 9:35 am. Rohit Thakur: M&M's new HR helm Thakur, currently CHRO for Mahindra’s Auto and Farm sectors, brings extensive global HR experience. He has previously led HR functions at Microsoft India and Accenture, managing talent strategy, operations, and cultural transformation for hundreds of thousands of employees. Thakur has also held leadership roles at GE in multiple sectors in India and the US, and has headed HR for startups including Paytm and LEAD School. He holds a commerce degree from SRCC Delhi and an MBA in HR from XLRI Jamshedpur. With this appointment, Mahindra & Mahindra aims to continue its strategic focus on talent management and organizational development under seasoned leadership, the company said.
