On this season of BBC’s The Traitors viewers were asked to join in with the game, prompting theories from fans to pop up everywhere.
While trying to guess the identity of the secret Traitor in the red cloak, the public have also been attempting to work out the significance of the family tree diagram that appears pivotal to the show.
Situated in the foyer of the castle, the picture has already been central to a challenge for the Traitors as well as the subject of discussions between the cast as they try to decipher its latin words.
It reads: ‘Beware whom you trust as your own blood.
‘The sharpest knives are often handed to the table by faithful servants.
‘Among intimate friends lurk the most secret enemies; take care not to let your confidence become the cause of your downfall and agitation.’
Take from that what you will, but there are some fans who believe that the family tree is an indication that every contestant is somehow connected.

In previous seasons, we’ve seen some shock revelations come to light as the episodes progress.
Alex and Tom’s dramatic couple announcement in season one really set the precedent for theatrical reveals between characters.
Diane lived up to it in season two with her line: ‘…but Ross is’, revealing her son was on the show too.
Who is definitely connected?
Already there have been three confirmed connections on the show, and we’re only four episodes in.
Here’s what we know so far.
Netty and Ross
During the first ten minutes of episode one, we saw nursery school teacher Netty have the realisation that she knew one of the other players.
After they pulled up to the castle in their black Land Rovers, Netty jumped into Ross’ arms screaming: ‘I know him!’
This created huge suspicion around the pair and the other contestants began to think the two might be hiding something about their connection.
Ultimately, it was damaging, as Netty was the first to get murdered and Ross was the third to get banished.
Judy and Roxy
Later on in the first episode, we found out child liaison officer Judy and recruiter Roxy were mother and daughter.
Judy said that adopting Roxy was the ‘best thing she ever did’.
She also recently revealed that her daughter and co-star was pregnant, live on ITV’s This Morning.
Their connection is still a secret in the castle, and likely won’t come up again as Judy was the first to be banished from the show.
Ross and Ellie
In last night’s episode Ross and Ellie revealed they were, in fact, a couple.
Sleuths on the internet thought they found photographic evidence on social media that gave proof to the theory that they were romantically involved.
It turned out to be true, as Ellie made the announcement after Ross was banished by the players and she vowed to ‘avenge his death’.
Who do fans speculate are connected?
We may know how five of the contestants are connected, but some fans think every single player has a relationship to somebody in the castle.
And no, we don’t think ‘they’re all Claudia’s children’,as Peekay joked on TikTok.
These are the theories fans have shared so far, with the possibility of more to come as we see contestants continue to interact.
Harriet and Hugo
Some suspect that crime writer and former barrister Harriet is married to barrister Hugo.
Harriet, 52, and Hugo, 51, are close in age and both reside in London, but is this enough to go off?
Did we witness an impassioned partner taking down her husband at the round table in episode three when Hugo’s bluff was called?
Or was it simply a former barrister demonstrating her ability to eloquently and successfully put forward a case without breaking a sweat?
Jack and Jessie
Personal trainer Jack and hair stylist Jessie seem to be getting on very well.
During last night’s episode they worked closely together in a challenge to try and save Jack from being up for murder.
After this was ensured, the duo embraced with a familiarity that some thought was uncharacteristic of two people who had just got to know each other.
Rayan on X said: ‘I’m starting to see secret connections everywhere now, but Jessie can’t be jumping into the arms of someone she met 3 days ago like that’.
Stephen and Ben
Retiree Ben and cyber security consultant Stephen both having Scottish accents definitely isn’t hard proof that the two are related.
However, some users on Reddit have been questioning why Ben’s surname is difficult to find online.
‘I’m pretty convinced we’ve found the big twist’, wrote Silver-Currency3368.
Unlike all the other cast members, his surname hasn’t been listed on fan Wiki pages, and he’s not used it on his Instagram account.
This could be for a variety of reasons, and Metro understands that the show doesn’t publish the players’ surnames – but it’s certainly got some people thinking.
Could he be a relative of Stephen?
Reece and Amanda
In a previous episode Rachel joked with former police detective Amanda and said she looked similar to sweet shop assistant Reece.
Amanda laughed: ‘Yeah, he’s my son.’
And some viewers online think she wasn’t joking.
Jessica on TikTok exclaimed: ‘I think they look identical! They have the same nose!’
Do you think everyone on The Traitors is connected?
-
Yes
-
No
There may have been no mention of it on Amanda’s exit, but is Reece keeping it up his sleeve while there’s heat on him?
Maz and Faraaz
In tonight’s episode, internal auditor Faraaz seemed upset that civil servant Maz had been murdered.
And for some time, people online have been speculating whether they’re father and son.
In a recent interview, Judy told Metro: ‘There was a lot of speculation when I was in there about Faraaz and Maz – are they son and dad?’
@doseofjoy on TikTok asks: ‘Is this just the cast being stereotypical, seeing two brown people in there and being like “oh my God they’re related”?’
The pair are from different places in the UK, so if there was to be a family connection, others have asked if they could be uncle and nephew?
The Traitors returns tomorrow on BBC One at 8pm.
